South Punjab Secretariat
Establishment of South Punjab Secretariat is not only a landmark decision in the administrative history of Punjab government but it is also a historic initiative of the Government that would bring numerous opportunities for the people of South Punjab resulting in socio-economic growth of the entire country.
The Irrigation Department, South Punjab was established on 09.09.2020 in Bahawalpur consisting of three Irrigation Zones, i.e Bahawalpur, Multan & Dera Ghazi Khan and Capt. Rtd. Mushtaq Ahmad (PAS) was posted as first Secretary.
The Punjab Government Rules of Business, 2011 were amended in 47th Meeting of Cabinet Committee on 21.09.2021 whereby various Administrative Powers related to Service / Human Resource, Budget & Accounts, Administration / Management of Attached Departments and disposal of complaints etc. were conferred.
