Bahawalpur Irrigation Zone

Bahawalpur Irrigation Zone consists of four Canal Circles namely as under:

  • Bahawalpur Canal Circle
  • Bahawalnagar Canal Circle
  • Rahimyarkhan Canal Circle
  • Panjnad Canal Circle.

Bahawalpur Canal Circle

Bahawalpur Canal Circle consists of 4 Nos.  Divisions namely Bahawalpur Canal Division, Ahmadpur Canal Division, Islam Headworks Division, Pallah. It operates and maintains Sutlej Valley Canal System in Bahawalpur Canal Circle and has 04-Main Canals viz Bahawal Canal Upper, Qaim Canal, Bahawal Canal Lower, Abbasia Canal and Abbasia Link Canal whereas two Links which too fall under jurisdiction of Bahawalpur Circle are Sidhnai – Mailsi – Bahawal (SMB Link) and Pakpattan – Islam (P.I. Link). Perennial Canals mostly feed the Desert Saline Water Area while Non-perennial Canals irrigate sweet water area. The Non-perennial Channels starts running from 15th April to 15th October of each year.

Due to Ring Fencing, the amount allocated for South Punjab would be utilized in South Punjab. This landmark initiative would remove the sense of deprivation in in South Punjab by ensuring equal distribution of resources.

Bahawalnagar Canal Circle

Bahawalnagar Canal Circle consists of 5 Divisions namely Sadiqia Canal Division, Hakra Canal Division, Fordwah Canal Division, Drainage Division Bahawalnagar and Malik Canal Division. It operates and maintains Sutlej Valley Canal System in Bahawalnagar and part of Bahawalpur District. In Bahawalnagar Canal Circle there are two Main Canals viz Sadiqia Canal and Fordwah Canal. Bahawalnagar Circle is at the Tail Command of Mangla Dam.

Rahimyarkhan Canal Circle

Rahimyarkhan Canal Circles consists of four Canal Divisions namely Rahimyarkhan, Khanpur, Dallas Canal Divisions and Tubewell Operation Division Khanpur. It operates and maintains Sutlej Valley Canal System falling in Rahimyarkhan District. Rahimyarkhan Circle is at the tail Command of Tarbela Dam.

Panjnad Canal Circle

Panjnad Canal Circles consists of 03 Divisions namely Panjnad Headworks Division, Abbasia Link Division Ahmadpur and Panjnad Canal Division. It operates and maintains Sutlej Valley Canal System falling in Ahmadpur Rahimyarkhan Districts. Panjnad Canal Circle is at the tail Command of Mangla Dam.
